From 21 – 24 February 2019 The Uithof in The Hague will be the venue for the Challenge Cup and the National Championship Figure Skating. The Challenge Cup is a competition in which young, up-and-coming talents in the age of 10 to seniors get the chance to measure themselves on a global level with their fellow athletes.
In addition, the competition serves as preparation and final qualification for the international top skaters at the World Championships (4 weeks later in Saitama City, Japan - 22-24 March) and the World Championships for juniors (2 weeks later in Zagreb, Croatia - 9 and 10 March). National titles are also at stake for the Dutch participants. The best Dutch figure skater in each category becomes Dutch Champion.
The Challenge Cup is and remains a highly appreciated international figure skating competition. The Challenge Cup fits well with the ambition to get Dutch figure skating at the Olympic level and at the same time bring the sport to the attention of a large Dutch and international audience.

Entries & results
The participant list for the Challenge Cup closes on January 20th 2019. At the moment the participants list contains names from about twenty countries. The organization is looking forward to the arrival of two absolute world leaders from Japan:
Shoma Uno, number two at the Olympic Games of PyeongChang and the last two World Championships. Among the women, Japan Wakaba Higuchi, who also won silver last year at the World Cup, also won the Challenge Cup in 2018. "We are proud that Shoma Uno and Wakaba Higuchi are coming to The Hague. The public will soon see world-class figure skating and for our Dutch riders it is fantastic that they can experience these top figure skaters from up", says Venhuizen.
For a part of the Japanese delegation, the Challenge Cup in The Hague is in preparation for the World Cup that takes place in their own country (Saitama City) at the end of March. At the Dutch Championships and Challenge Cup all categories are covered: from the youngest talents (the pre basic novices) to the seniors.
Update 23th January:
Unfortunately due to an injury Shoma Uno won't start at the Challenge Cup. Rika Kihira, the winner of the ISU Grand Prix Final in 2018, will come to the Netherlands.
