To the Northwest of the Veluwe, you will find the city of Heerde, consisting of Heerde, Wapenveld, Veessen and Vorchten. Heerde has got amazing floodplains along the Ijssel, beautiful natural parks and a grand countryside with many roan cattle farms.

In contrast to the landscape around the Ijssel and the countryside, there are forests and heaths. Hikers and bikers will feel at home on the estates and in the natural area’s ‘De Dellen’ , ‘De Renderklippen’, ‘Petrea’ and the ‘Zwolse bos’  (forest of Zwolle). You can also visit the ‘schaapskooi’, where the shepherd and his sheep are wandering around every day. Heerde’s beach beach invites you to have a relaxing day on the water.

In Heerde’s small, yet social city center you can go for a comfortable shopping tour. Apart from some national chains, there are many unique local shops. You will feel welcome the minute you enter the town with its relaxed atmosphere.
Are you looking for a place to stay? There are several options: from camping on a farm or renting a bungalow, to bed&breakfast and hotel accommodations. For a delicious lunch or dinner, you are very welcome in Heerde’s restaurants. Have a look at VVVHeerde.nl for details.

In and around Heerde it’s worth taking a walk or a bikeride. At our VVV (tourism) office, ask for an ANWB-fietskaart. This map shows the entire network of cycling routes in the Veluwe. The network consists of a large amount of numbered junctions. In between these junctions roads in each direction are marked so you can always decide which route you want to follow.
